Learn the skills to lead groups away from the prepared pistes within UK ski areas. Ideal for coaches, instructors and leaders to facilitate broad skills development of riders by using the challenging UK off-piste environment.
We aim to cover the practical and theoretical elements of the UK Snowsport syllabus, which can be accessed here.
Please note that you will not be allowed to attend the course and will not receive a refund without being confirmed as a registered member of a UK NGB Coaching scheme. You must also hold a recognised piste based award that adequately covers the skills and knowledge of resort leadership. Syllabus and information available here.
The training will be delivered within the UK ski areas and will be comprised of a mix of theoretical and practical training. Candidates should attend with a good level of fitness and technique so that they can ski/ride proficiently in the harsh and variable Scottish mountain environment. To access the best conditions for training, touring equipment may be used under the discretion and direction of course tutor and training centre.
Three days leadership training and continual assessment. The main underlying themes will be ski/board performance and technique, navigational foundation skills, avalanche awareness and avoidance knowledge and skills, leadership styles, strategies and responsibilities.
