DETAILED INFO

AIMS

To introduce you to sea kayaking and the range of equipment that’s available.

To build your skills in paddling, rescues, trip planning, weather, tides and navigation.

To do an overnight sea kayak camping trip.

PRE-REQUISITES

You don’t need to have any previous paddling experience to take part in the course. Being confident in and around water, and a willingness to get wet during the course will help you get the most out of the five days.

IS IT FOR ME?

If you want a week with where you can to learn to paddle a sea kayak as well introducing the skills to safely plan your own sea trips, then this is the course for you.

CONTENT

On this five day course we’ll take you from your first paddle strokes in a sea kayak through to your first overnight trip.

On the first morning we’ll meet up and discuss your aspirations for the week, before sorting out equipment and heading off to a local loch to introduce some of the skills you’ll need to manoeuvre your boat and to deal. We’ll also look at what to do if you fall in, how to help each other back into boats and start to look at how you might rescue yourself.

Over the following days we’ll build our knowledge of tides, navigation and trip planning whilst exploring the coast and developing out paddling skills. Finally we’ll head out on a 2 day trip, spending a night camping out away from the centre.
