AIMS

This course will give you a chance to paddle a canoe on lochs or gentle rivers. It’ll give you a solid foundation for your future canoeing adventures.

PRE-REQUISITES

No previous canoeing experience required.

Confidence in and around water is helpful.

IS IT FOR ME?

This course is for anyone who wants to experience canoeing for the first time. If you’re looking for two days to build your skills and confidence in open canoe, and a chance to experience Scotland from the water, then this is the course for you.

CONTENT

This two day course is a chance to try open canoeing for the first time. We hope you’ll love it as much as we do. On the first day we’ll sort out canoes and paddling gear before heading down to a local loch to work on the basic paddling skills that could set us up for a lifetime of canoeing adventures. We’ll most likely paddle tandem (two in a boat) with the option to go solo as your skills develop.

On the second day we’ll head out to another loch (Lochs Morlich, Insh, Ness, Laggan and Pityoulish are all easily accessible) or to a section of gently flowing river such as the Spey or Ness.

We hope you’ll finish the course inspired to get out onto your local waterways and enjoy life from the water.
