If you want to develop your ability to safely paddle and to deal with problems on grade 3-4 rivers, then this is the course for you.
This 2 day training course builds on the BC White Water Safety and Rescue Training. We’ll look at the skills needed to safely paddle grade 4 rapids and deal with problems on steeper rivers. We’ll focus on safe river running in harder environments, looking at what every member of the group can bring to the team. The course includes training in more complicated rope work and uses scenarios to consolidate rescue techniques. Over the course we’ll move from set piece solutions, to combining skills to solve problems in a flexible way.
To start off we’ll take a look at knots, anchors and equipment including pulleys and prussiks. We’ll use those building blocks to generate and control a load. We’ll also position a paddler in the flow and discover ways to deal with entrapped paddlers.
