This course offers you a chance to explore some of Scotland’s best gently flowing rivers, by canoe, kayak or sit on top.
On this 5 day course we aim to equip you with the skills and knowledge to plan and paddle your own journeys on gently flowing rivers.
3 – 5 days in a kayak / canoe / sit on top.
This course is aimed at anybody who is keen to develop the skills to paddle on gently flowing rivers. To get the most out of this course then you’ll be water confident and have at least 3-5 days of paddling experience.
If you want a week with plenty of opportunity to learn to paddle a range of kayaks, canoes, sit on tops or SUPs and develop your skills and confidence out on the river, then this is the course for you.
This course gives you a chance to try paddlesport, exploring some gently flowing Scottish rivers from your choice of kayak, canoe or sit-on-top.
On day first day we’ll pick up a range of boats, paddles and paddling gear then head to a local loch to try them out. You might already have a favourite type of craft, in which case we can concentrate on developing your skills in that boat, or you might prefer to try a range of craft and see which one floats your boat!
For the rest of the week we’ll explore some beautiful Highland rivers, such as the Spey, Ness, Beauly or Findhorn.
The week is very much what you want it to be. We can simply paddle some superb journeys, enjoying being out on the river, or if you prefer we can develop your paddling, look at appropriate kit at techniques to prevent and deal with common problems and most important of all, look at how to choose the right section of river on the right day. We hope after this course you’ll feel confident to plan and paddle journeys on gently flowing rivers with family or friends.
