If you’re working towards your Paddlesport Leader and want to develop your skills then this optional training course is the one for you.
This course is all about meeting your development needs. We’ll look at the leadership and rescue skills required to lead mixed craft groups on journeys on open water with winds up to force 3 and on gently moving rivers. We’ll also help you to develop your own paddling skills in your chosen craft.
We’ll make sure you’ll leave the course with a detailed picture of the assessment standard, a development plan to get you to that level and a firm grasp of what the assessment should involve.

AIMS
To help you work towards your British Canoeing Paddlesport Leader, which qualifies you to lead mixed craft groups on sheltered lochs, gently flowing rivers and slow moving estuaries.
PRE-REQUISITES
To get the most out of this course you’ll feel confident manoeuvring your chosen craft on sheltered water.

CONTENT
This course runs with a maximum of 6 participants.
We’ll look at all the skills required to lead mixed craft groups on sheltered open water and gently moving rivers. This likely to include rafting and sailing as well as the paddling skills and tactics needed to manoeuvre your boat.
We’ll also take a look at rescues, dealing with and avoiding incidents.
