The British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor is designed for instructors running paddlesport taster sessions on very sheltered water within the safety system of clubs, centres or other organisations.
You’ll be working on very sheltered water using craft suitable for complete beginners (e.g. kayak, open canoe, SUP, sit on top).
You’ll have the opportunity to paddle a range of craft during the course, but your personal skills and rescue skills will only be assessed in your preferred craft.
The BC Paddlesport Instructor is for people who work with beginners, within a club, centre or other organisation. You’ll choose to paddle either kayak, open canoe, sit on top, or stand up paddleboard. We’ll cover how introduce beginners to any of those craft.
During the 2 day course we’ll cover all the practical skills to run a taster session, including:
We’ll assess the rescue skills that you met on your BC Foundation Safety and Rescue Training. We’ll also take a look at your own paddling skills in your chosen craft.
The first day we’ll paddle on the Glenmore Lodge pond; on the second we’ll most likely head to a very sheltered local loch.
In our stores we have a wide range of kayaks, canoes, sit on tops and stand up paddleboards. However if you’d prefer to paddle your own boat, please feel free to bring it along.
