IS IT FOR ME?

If you’ve completed all the pre-requisites, checked in and you’re feeling ready for assessment, then this is the course for you.

CONTENT

We’ll catch up on-line in the run up to the assessment, to chat through your assessment discussion task, run through potential venues and decide how to structure the assessment to work for you.

On the assessment day we’ll meet up at Argyll Kayaker Coves, near Cuan Sound. You’ll coach a group of 2-4 sea kayakers, either for or in advanced sea conditions; winds up above force 4, tidal flow more than 2 knots. You’ll coach for at least 90 minutes at your choice of venue. We’ll also take a look at rescues, personal paddling skills and discuss your coaching session together. If it doesn’t look like we’ll get advanced conditions we’ll have to cancel the assessment.

You can bring your own students. You’ll know them and be able to move quickly to coaching them. Or we can supply unknown students, in which case you’ll need to spend some time getting to know them, working out what they want and need.
