Learn LEVEL | 2 day(s)

Overview

So if you have long considered becoming a Mountain Bike Leader but are just not sure if you are skilled enough, not confident in trailside repairs, unsure about your navigational expertise or just a bit nervous about taking that next step and booking on a training course then this is your opportunity to find out more, realise your potential, chat with others who have done this and appreciate that you too can go from happy rider to confident leader!

DETAILED INFO

AIMS

Build confidence, help you realise your potential, cover some award content, and enthuse you to take on the challenge of leading people on bikes with so much reward throughout.

IS IT FOR ME?

Aspiring leaders as they transition from mountain bike rider to level 2 mountain bike leader (you do not need any previous mountain bike leaders qualifications as level 2 is the entry point for many).  You should be comfortable riding your mountain bike on natural and man-made trails in a variety of weather conditions.

The minimum age to attend this event is 18 years old.

CONTENT

The two days will feature a series of interactive workshops and keynotes focussing on topics such as the personal riding required, including coaching to help bring up your confidence if required and how to lead in single track terrain and what are practical considerations.

Mountain Rescue members will give input into casualty management for an inaccessible location for an ambulance, whilst Velotech trainers (Velotech – recognised mechanic qualification) will share an insight into what they carry in their trailside repair tool kit. Plus, industry professionals selling e-bikes and designers and builders of adaptive cycles will be on sight to showcase their bikes.

A series of structured trail rides giving you a vision and idea of what a level 2 lead ride may look like.
