Find Out MoreAccurate navigation is all the more important in the autumn months as daylight hours are reduced, the clocks go back, and the potential to find yourself attempting to navigate the hills in the dark increases.
This afternoon/evening course is aimed at walkers, mountaineers, and climbers who wish to develop strategies and confidence for navigating safely in the dark.
Please bring a headtorch and spare batteries to use on this course.
To increase your ability to navigate competently and confidently when faced with the potentially challenging conditions of the hill environment at night.
Participants should have basic map and compass skills to build on. You should be confident that you are physically prepared to make the most of this course, which takes place in a potentially challenging environment and could involve a lot of height gain depending on the aims and abilities of the group.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact us to discuss these with a member of our team.
This is a great lead-on from our Mountain Navigation course. It is ideal for those who wish to equip themselves with the skills to navigate confidently and competently in the mountain environment in the dark, to enable longer hill days as summer fades or to ensure you have the skills to get home safely should the need arise unexpectedly.
You will meet your instructor at 12.00 (midday) at Glenmore Lodge to discuss plans, recap basic navigation skills, and check the weather forecast before heading up onto the hill for some intensive navigation training.
