If you’re looking to run stand up paddleboard taster sessions within a club or centre then this is the course for you. Over 2 days of combined training and assessment we’ll look at personal skills, rescue skills and behaviours needed to run great SUP sessions on very sheltered ponds, pools and canals

AIMS
To complete your British Canoeing SUP Instructor award, qualifying you to run introductory SUP sessions, on very sheltered water, working within clubs and centres.
PRE-REQUISITES
Already able to paddle and rescue SUPS
SCA (or other home nation) member
Registered with SCA (or other home nation equivalent) as a SUP Instructor candidate
At least 14 years old

If you’re wanting a qualification to introduce people to SUP whilst you work within the safety systems of a club, centre, or other organisation then this is the course for you.

If you’re looking to instruct SUP outwith a club or centre, or on lochs, rivers or the sea, then the SUP Coach Awards would be more appropriate qualifications.
CONTENT
This two day course runs with a maximum of 6 participants.
It’s all about how to introduce beginners to SUP in a way that’s fun, safe, and rewarding. During the course we’ll look at practical skills such as kitting up a group and getting afloat, familiarisation activities and games, using mini-journeys to add to the adventure and minimising our environmental impact.
We’ll also look at the personal skills that help us to build relationships and effectively communication with a group of SUP newbies, and the professional standards that will help us to thrive and be an asset to the organisation we’re working for.
During the course your personal paddling and rescue skills will be assessed.
