AIMS
This course is a pre-requisite for the BC Sea Kayak Leader assessment as well as being suitable for any sea kayaker planning coastal journeys.

PRE-REQUISITES
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
We typically offer an Open Water Navigation and Tidal Planning course the day after this course, so you have the option to do both courses back-to-back.
IS IT FOR ME?
This one-day classroom-based course is designed for all sea kayakers who want to plan and paddle coastal journeys.
CONTENT
This one day, classroom-based theory course introduces the knowledge and techniques you’ll need to plan coastal sea kayak journeys.
You’ll be hands on with charts, pilot books, almanacs, tide tables and OS maps. We’ll look at weather, tides, navigation and buoyage. We’ll plan at least a couple of coastal journeys up to 2 nautical miles offshore with tidal flow up to 2 knots.
It’s a great course for any sea kayaker as well as being a pre-requisite for Sea Kayak Leader assessment.

ARRIVING AT GLENMORE LODGE
This one-day course starts at 0900 and finishes around 1700. Lunch, teas, coffees, and afternoon tea/cake are included in the course price.

This is an indoor classroom-based course. No specialist equipment is needed.
Please feel free to bring any personal tidal planning resources with you.
