DETAILED INFO

AIMS

On this two day course we aim to help you build your skills canoeing on grade 2 white water. We hope that by the end of the course you’ll feel more confident planning and paddling your own river trips.

PRE-REQUISITES

20 days open canoeing

5 days of grade 1-2 rivers

IS IT FOR ME?

If you’re looking to build your skills and confidence to paddle on grade 2 rivers, then this 2 day course is the one for you.

CONTENT

Develop your white water canoeing skills on grade 2 rivers whilst touring some of Scotland’s classics. You’ll build your repertoire of strokes, setting you up to really accelerate the canoe or to change direction without losing all your speed. Whether you’re a solo or a tandem paddler, you’ll increase your understanding of rivers, finding just the right speed and angle to allow the water to do the work for you.

You’ll usually be in a group of no more than six with one instructor. We’re likely to paddle at least one section of the Spey, along with perhaps the Ness, Tay or Findhorn.

On the river we’ll spend time developing your personal paddling. We’ll pick up on the key safety and rescue skills that set us up to avoid problems, but also to deal with them if they do arise.
