Glenmore Lodge has a lot to offer anyone looking to experience the outdoors this summer holiday.

What will my kids be doing?

Our Summer Adventure Activity Week for 10-17 year olds includes paddleboarding, climbing, orienteering, and a fun range of team challenges, allowing your kids to try something new, socialise, and build confidence while having fun in the outdoors. Our Summer Activity days for 5-9 year olds offers fun adventures – click on the relevant links below for more details.

All children staying residential with us must be accompanied by an adult. Family rooms are available. If you prefer, you can just book your child to attend the day activities. Timings for drop off and pick up will be confirmed nearer the date.

What can I do at Glenmore Lodge?

Whatever suits you best! Whilst your child is adventuring during the day, you can make use of our quiet spaces to work remotely, with access to tea & coffee making facilities and a fast wifi connection. Or you can join in the adventure yourself, either on one of our courses, independently, or just relax and take in the view.

We love the Scottish outdoors and have been helping individuals get outside safely for more than 75 years. From rock climbing, to skiing, to mountain biking, kayaking and more. We’re based in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park (who else can count reindeers as their neighbours?!). What makes Glenmore Lodge an environmentally friendly option for our family holiday?

Glenmore Lodge is located right in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park  and surrounded by miles of natural trails, accessed right from the Centre.  Our grounds are an environmentally significant area, making Glenmore Lodge is a great place to visit with your family to help them understand and appreciate the value and beauty of the natural world here in Scotland.

Once in the area, you can easily travel by bus and we have bike storage for you to use as well. Learn more here about the Aviemore Adventure Bus.

Closer to home the team work hard to make our operations as sustainable as possible. Our building is heated by biomass, and we have EV car chargers and solar panels. Where possible we limit single use packaging and use biodegradable options. We love this place and want you to as well.

Important rules around residential bookings

Where is the nearest town/shops?

Aviemore is a 15 minute drive down the road from Glenmore Lodge. There you’ll find supermarkets, a pharmacy, post office, and a range of shops, cafes, and restaurants

What is there in the area for us to do as a family?

In the Cairngorms National Park, there’s a great range of places to go not far from Glenmore Lodge including: the Highland Wildlife Park, the Highland Folk Museum, Landmark Forest Adventure Park, Rothiemurchus Estate activities (including Little Landies, Highland Cows, and more), G2 Outdoor Zip Trek, Fun House at Coylumbridge, Loch Morlich Watersports, and more.  Check out Visit Cairngorms for more inspiration.  Also check out What’s On Aviemore for even more information.

How long does it take to get to Glenmore Lodge?

Glenmore Lodge is a 15 minute drive from Aviemore, which sits just off the A9. If you’re travelling north by car from the central belt, you can be here in about 3 hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow

What facilities do you have onsite?

We have

  • On-site Bar.  The Lochain Bar is open from 5.45pm til 11pm and is the perfect place to relax at the end of a day spent adventuring, with a glass of wine, local beer, or a tea on the verandah, taking in the stunning views.
  • A small indoor kayak rolling pool.
  • En-suite bedrooms and family rooms
  • Remote working spaces, with tea and coffee available throughout the day
  • Extensive grounds with access to hundreds of trails, just 2km from the famous Loch Morlich
  • We also have a drying room, which is perfect for your kit after a day out in ‘Scottish’ weather conditions!
Can I bring my dog?

Yes you can bring your dog. We have a selection of dog friendly rooms.  It does cost £20 per night to bring your dog and you will need to contact the office to do so on 01479 861 256.

Special dietary needs?

Don’t worry if you or your child has special dietary needs.  Our Catering team are very experienced and will be able to provide for your needs.
