For those aged 14 – 17, this 5 day biking course will get you riding exciting trails. Experience a variety of trails and terrains through the week to start to hone your skills and show off what is on offer. We will also use our purpose built trails and training facilities on site to introduce and practice various techniques. Topping this all off with how to look after your bike to ensure that it is always there ready for action.
This course will get you riding more confidently on a wide range of trail surfaces, armed with core biking skills that you can take with you anywhere.
Just the desire to build confidence and have fun.
If the student being booked on one of our U18 courses has a Young Scot card, then they are entitled to a 20% discount on all U18 course prices. Call the office on 01479 861 256 to claim. There are no prerequisites, just a general level of fitness so that you can enjoy the 5 days biking.
Join our experienced and enthusiastic coaches to learn key skills for taking our Mountain Bikes off-road – whether that’s on graded Trail Centre tracks, wild tracks or just exploring our country off-road. Based around the core elements of Gears, Brakes and Balance we will explore how to be in control of our bikes rather than the other way round.
Biking is all about moving and throughout there will be a focus on efficiency – so we can get the most out from putting the least in!
We’ll move on from the these core skills to look at ‘Riding Light’ and how we can keep our momentum up, ride over simple obstacles and look at getting our wheels off the ground.
We’ll also get a chance to refresh ideas about looking after your bike and how to keep it clean, lubricated and working. Some simple, common trailside repairs will be covered as well, if appropriate.
There will be loads of opportunities to chat about equipment and if you are new to Mountain Biking then we can even chat about what bike to buy and how much to spend.
It’s a fun and busy few days but during these we will experience a range of tracks and trails and through this your ability will grow and you’ll leave a different rider
If you do not have your own bike or are unable to bring it with you to the Lodge, we have a limited fleet of Trek bikes available for use. Please get in touch to arrange this prior to your course. E-bikes can also be ridden on any of our skills courses.
