DETAILED INFO

AIMS

To help you learn the basics and become a competent second on a variety of rock climbs, both single and multi-pitch.

IS IT FOR ME?

This five-day course is perfect for beginners and indoor wall climbers with limited outdoor climbing experience.  You don’t need to have rock climbing experience, but being fit and active would help.

CONTENT

Days one and two are run on a one instructor to four participants (1:4) ratio. This then lowers to an one instructor to two participants (1:2) ratio for day 3,4,5.

This enables the course to be priced competitively while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Meeting your instructor on the first morning gives a chance to talk about your experiences and goals, as well as those of the other participants. This helps the instructor design the program to focus on key topics.

These are:

  • Developing participants personal experience on a variety of rock types.
  • Experience different disciplines of rock climbing such as bouldering, sport & trad climbing.
  • Develop an ability to second rock climbs.

The technical sessions will cover effective rope management, including how to tie into anchor points.

  • Belaying both leader and second.
  • Coaching in personal climbing movement skills, climbing technique and psychological preparation.
  • Descending from rock climbs by abseiling using self-protection methods.
  • You start in a team of 4 and then for the last 3 days the ratio drops from 1:4 to 1:2.

This will enable more personalised coaching and make it possible to spend more time climbing what the group wants.
