Overview
This one day training course is aimed at assistant coaches and is designed to convey all the current best coaching practises in coaching climbing. The course includes subjects such as; observation & analysis, giving feedback and practical coaching tips to help you deliver the fundamentals of climbing in an effective and structured way.
The Coaching Award Scheme aims to develop coaches with the skills needed to help climbers progress and develop at whatever level they climb at or aspire to.

AIMS
The course includes subjects such as; observation & analysis, giving feedback and practical coaching tips to help you deliver the fundamentals of climbing in an effective and structured way.
PRE-REQUISITES
16+ years of age,
6 months climbing experience, member of a mountaineering council.
Attended a FUNdamentals 1 workshop or equivalent APL
Registered with MTUK for the coaching scheme.

CONTENT
The Foundation Coach award is designed to enable coaches to be more effective in the engaging and inspirational delivery of the foundation skills of climbing. The syllabus focuses on three main areas:
- Coaching skills & knowledge of what and how to coach more effectively
- Technical competence to manage & deliver an enjoyable and stimulating session
- Reflective practice for continual improvement
