This two day training course is aimed at the independent and autonomous coach, who is likely to oversee the progression of students over a period of time. The role of the development coach is to structure a progression in delivery and practice in order to facilitate the development of climbers. The course includes subjects such as; Climber Centred Coaching, reflective practise, questioning, long term climber development and developing a better understanding of Technical, Tactical, Physiological, Psychological ‘TTPP’. The skills of the Foundation Coach will be developed to a more sophisticated level, to match their delivery to the needs of developing climbers within a group. Often working with Foundation Coaches, the Development Coach will take a mentoring role, and lead in the review process to promote reflective coaching practice.
Entry and training requirements Be at least 18 years of age Have at least 12 months of personal climbing experience Attend a Coaching Foundation Training Course or Accredited Prior Learning Hold a Climbing Wall Award (or higher level of Award) or site specific validation Attend a BMC/MCofS FUNdamentals of Climbing 1 & 2 workshop or APL It is recommended that you attend a BMC/MS Physical Training for Climbing workshop to help you get more from the course.
