Staying at Glenmore Lodge

By Glenmore Lodge

Nestled at the foot of Cairngorm and surrounded by ancient Caledonian pine forest, we’re well situated for enabling outdoor adventures! Whether you’re joining us for a skills training course or want to explore the area in your own time, staying at Glenmore Lodge is the best way to experience everything we have to offer.

Location

Only a 15-minute drive or short bus journey from Aviemore, Glenmore Lodge is conveniently accessible, but still gives you the feeling of being out and away from the bustle of town. Though quiet and peaceful, our surroundings are full of life and some of the most biodiverse the British Isles have to offer.

Whether you’re looking to walk, run, or bike, there are trails right from our doorstep perfect for a bit of exploring. Head up past Lochain Uaine to Ryvoan Bothy, where you can enjoy the open scenery before heading back, continue up over Meall a’Bhuachaille for stunning views of Cairngorm and Strathspey, or carry on even further to Bynack More.

If you fancy a refreshing swim (or maybe just a dip depending on the time of year!) then it’s not far to Loch Morlich either, where you can access the water from the beach beneath Cairngorm before popping into one of the fantastic local cafes to warm up.

Facilities

After experiencing whatever adventures you found yourself on through the day, there’s a chance that you may have some damp kit. In which case our secure drying room is perfect to make sure it’s ready to go again tomorrow, or to avoid the faff of dealing with wet gear when you get home!

Once you’re back inside, relax by the fire in the Lochain Bar and coorie in with a local whisky, craft beer, or cup of tea. It’s the perfect place to share stories of adventures enjoyed and get inspiration for the next one, wherever it might take you.

Exploring the area by bike? Whether you’re here for the fantastic single track natural trails that’ll take you through stunning woodland or accessible and more gently paths that link some beautiful local lochs, you’ll need somewhere secure to store your bike at the end of the day; and maybe wash it down a bit. We’ve got both of those covered as well!

Attending a course?

If you’re attending a course, then staying with us here at Glenmore Lodge is the best way to get the most out of your experience. No travel faff after a day outside, just straight back in to your warm and comfortable room before a hearty and delicious dinner cooked by our amazing chefs. Then after a solid night’s sleep in our peaceful and quiet surroundings, you’ll be ready to go the next day!

It’s especially convenient to stay here for your winter mountain or backcountry skiing course, where we provide evening talks on topics from avalanche hazards and winter navigation, to life in Antarctica and climbing Everest. Then you can head to the Lochain Bar afterwards without worrying about a drive back to town in the snow.

You’re also welcome to book your partner in alongside you if you’re staying here as part of a course, and benefit from a great deal on their meals and accommodation cost.

On your own adventure?

If you’re looking for the perfect place to serve as base camp for exploring the Cairngorms, then look no further! Benefit from all the above and head out in your own time by booking Glenmore Lodge for bed & breakfast and enjoy a good night’s sleep in our comfortable rooms (fully accessible rooms available). Or if you’re in a group then our self-catering chalets for four or six people are also available and offer the ideal convenience.
