Adventure LEVEL | 2 day(s) | Ratio 1:4

Overview

This group will plan to spend one day on a grade 3+ river and the other in the wind on exposed open water. Your coaches will be happy to provide hints and tips if you want them, but the aim of the weekend is to head out paddling in exciting places.

Alongside your daytime paddling, there’ll be evening drop-in workshops, after-dinner talks, evening shenanigans from our friends at Hou Canoes, the Lochain Bar and a room full of musical instruments if anyone fancies a folk session.

You must also book your accommodation by selecting the accommodation option on the previous event page.  Please note that any bookings made without accommodation will be contacted by our Bookings team in due course.

DETAILED INFO

IS IT FOR ME?

To join this group you’ll have experience of paddling on open water in winds of force 4 or above and experience of paddling grade 3+ rivers. Likely rivers include the Upper Findhorn or Garry coupled with larger lochs such as Loch Laggan or Loch Ness.

CONTENT

The details are very much up to you, your volunteer coach, and the weather.

If you’ve got anything you specifically want out of the weekend then let your coach know, but otherwise the emphasis will be on getting our canoes safely down a great Scottish grade 3+ river and enjoying a canoe journey on some exposed open water.

  • Minibus drop-off at Aviemore Station on Sunday evening
  • Around 20 open canoes available to borrow for the weekend
  • Minibus and trailer transport for most sessions

If you’re looking for, or able to offer a lift to and from the symposium then please email us at [email protected] with your phone number and we’ll add it to our Lift Share WhatsApp.

WHAT WILL I NEED

Please bring as much of your own kit as you can. Our stores will be open over the weekend if you need to borrow the odd item or want to try out some new equipment.

If you’d like to borrow a canoe, please contact us at [email protected] in advance of the weekend.
