If you’ve mastered a 20 shot score of more than 120 (10 prone, 10 stand), can handle challenging hill climbs on roller skis and have plenty of fitness and enthusiasm then this is the ideal course for you. Enhance your skills and techniques, and really gain control over your rifle while shooting out of breath.

DETAILED INFO

AIMS

To consistently achieve higher percentage hit rates while shooting out of breath, as required for the sport of biathlon. To attain a much more efficient flow in all techniques on skating rollerskis.

PRE-REQUISITES

20 shot shooting score of 120; ability to maintain continuous roller-skating over undulating terrain for 10kms.

IS IT FOR ME?

This course will cover the advanced skills of biathlon. It is aimed at individuals who can:

Rollerski for 2 hours on undulating terrain

Show good command of rollerskiing in the skating technique

Rollerski up a steep incline

Shoot a 20 shot score at 50m (10 prone, 10 stand) of more than 120

You will continue to gain more in-depth skills in biathlon. There will be greater emphasis on gaining control over your rifle while shooting in an out-of-breath state. We will be working toward a consistent 60 – 70% hit rate. Rollerskiing will be predominantly used for out of breath exercises to stimulate as closely as possible the winter sport of biathlon. Additionally, there will be opportunities on this course to learn fitness techniques specific to biathlon.

To get the most out of these four days we recommend that you have a high level of fitness.

Prior to your course, please complete the attached questionnaire summarising your previous experience and detailing equipment requirements, returning to Glenmore Lodge at least 1 week before course start date.
