New MTB Leader Conference

A new Mountain Bike Leader Conference has been successfully delivered.

This was the first of its kind in Scotland and what a brilliant team of aspirant and qualified leaders both attended and delivered over the course of the 2 days.

Highlights identified by those in attendance included simply the benefits from just being around like minded people, socialising and sharing ideas. Excitement came easily from all the riding that was done, on standard 2 wheeled bikes when orienteering, during skills sessions plus on a social ride out. Then the biggest smiles came from the new opportunities for many to ride a variety of adaptive and electric bikes, widening knowledge and opening thoughts on where cycling can take people.

Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland were in attendance with past, current and future information on what is happening and who they are.

Glenmore Lodge’s bike department hosted the event providing expertise in not only leadership but also with professional industry mechanics as well as a stunning venue and functional campus for an event of this kind.

Adventure stories were told in the evening over a beer about bike-packing in colder climates, Iceland, Greenland and Lapland, by Huw Oliver which inspired all.

What next? This is the big question. This event might be over but it is just a stepping stone to the next, better one. There are already suggestions for different workshops and with the idea of this event taking place at different locations. We look forward to seeing this return next year.
