Mark Chadwick

Mini Biography

From the word GO of leaving school I new that the world of instructing and guiding is where I wanted to be. Did I have any idea where that life would take me? No!

I sit here writing this as an International Mountain Guide and MCI, a Kayak Coach and Ski Instructor. I’ve worked at both UK national centres and have worked with many of the best outdoor activity providers both in the UK and through out the world. When clients and friends say “Mark your lucky to do what you do”; I can’t help but agree.

What inspired you?

I was fortunate enough to grow up in Gairloch in the North West of Scotland. It would prove hard not to be inspired by all of the beautiful mountains, rivers and sea that surrounded me.

How did you become an Instructor?

From leaving high school I was sure I wanted to work in the outdoors. I progressed through a diploma in outdoor Ed., worked at various outdoor centres, did a year on the Instructor Scheme at Plas Y Brenin while all the time gaining qualifications in various outdoor activities whilst living a classic outdoor nomadic lifestyle following the seasons. Finally, I moved back to Aviemore and secured a job as an instructor at Glenmore Lodge.
