I work full time as a MIC based in Aviemore where I live with my family. Some of my career highlights have been guiding my first Cuillin traverse, new routing with clients in remote places and training a young client to climb the Old Man of Hoy. Climbing is my passion and it has taken me to some amazing places from high altitude alpinism in Alaska to big walling in Yosemite. Climbing has many different disciplines. Which means it is easy to become a jack of all, a master of none. But over the years I feel I have started to master my crafts.
As my life becomes fuller and more hectic my requirements for a trip and destination have changed. No longer do I have excess time to waste whilst I wait for a weather window. So my favourite destination is one that will allow me to have a productive time and make the most of the time I have available regardless of whether I achieve my objective.
I Never Leave Home Without It
A Pertex windproof- Lightweight, packs really small, breathable, water and wind resistant. What’s not to like? Or maybe my bag that contains all the essentials I need for a cheeky training session, “If you can’t be good, be strong!” Making the most of your time is key for the time starved.
My Next Big Adventure
Probably my biggest adventure for the foreseeable future will be one of parenthood. I will also continue to strive to progress and push my current limits in my chosen disciplines. Whether that be in the UK or abroad.
