Overview

A one-day coaching session based at Laggan Wolftrax trail centre, finding flow & tackling techy features with one of our highly experienced MTB coaches. One of Scotland’s favourite trail centres, the amazing new blue and red grade trails allow riders to have fun progressing up to the classic rocky Laggan trails. There’s a great café on site, and it’s conveniently located halfway between Aviemore and Fort William.

You’ll look to progress your skills and gain confidence on the fantastic trails Wolftrax has to offer.

  • Find flow on the big banked berms
  • Tackle techy trail features on the classic reds
  • Venture further towards black graded trails if desired

AIMS

The aim through focused sessions on specific features will be that you feel confident to link them together and ride the trail from top to bottom with flow and control.

You’ll also take away tactics to continue your progression on trails elsewhere.

The desire to challenge yourself within a controlled and supportive trail centre environment, and to ride the excellent of Laggan Wolftrax.

Perfect if you want to revisit core skills and develop more advanced skills to be able to tackle what Laggan Wolftrax has to offer.

We do this through a mixture of personalised coaching sessions and riding some of Scotland’s finest trails. This is suitable for anyone looking to ride at purpose built trail centres, in style and with confidence.

CONTENT

Under the watchful eyes of our experienced and enthusiastic coaches, you’ll receive individualised coaching through a range of sessions to develop your skills. At Wolftrax, we can utilise specific trail sections to focus in on the key skills or features you want to get better at.

Fundamental elements we’ll look at include:

  • Dynamic balance – reacting appropriately to the terrain ahead
  • Railing corners – eliminate the feeling of over-shooting a corner but maintain speed and control
  • Braking – the hows, whys, and whens
  • Flows – learn to deal with technical trail features that threaten your flow
  • Bunny hops & manuals – skills to make your ride smoother
  • Drop: fast and slow – become more playful
  • Crafty climbing – how to arrive at the top having enjoyed the process

Included for e-bikes:

  • Gearing – anticipating when to change gear to maximise the use of your e-bike motor
  • Functions – choosing the right function for the trail to help maintain or maximise battery life

NEED TO KNOW

WHAT WILL I NEED

If you do not have your own bike or are unable to bring it with you, we have a limited fleet of Trek bikes available for use. Please get in touch to arrange this and any other kit you may need to borrow from us, prior to your course. E-bikes can also be ridden on any of our skills courses.

  • Bike
  • Small bike lights front and rear – always a good idea to carry just in case!
  • Small Biking Day pack – 25L max
  • Helmet
  • Eye wear
  • Thin woolly hat or buff for under helmet
  • Gloves – thin, full finger cycling gloves are perfect
  • Warmer Cycle friendly Full finger Gloves – just in case its cold
  • Water proof jacket & trousers – Suitable for cycling
  • Padded cycling Shorts – there really are worth it for comfort!
  • Outer Baggy Cycling Shorts
  • Thin fleece or similar
  • Full leg covering – for cold days e.g. cycle tights or cycling leg warmers
  • Warm outdoor wear
  • Insulating layers – a variety of base layers are useful to control your temperature
  • Small personal first aid kit
  • Drink system – hydration pack / water bottle
  • Spare inner tube x2 for your bike
  • Spare Brake pads x2 for your bike
  • Spare Rear Gear Mechanism hanger for your bike – Call your local bike shop for help with this
  • Small Trail Toolkit – Pump, multi tool and chain breaker at least
  • Suncream – you just never know!
