10 Reasons to Stay at Glenmore Lodge
With a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, great facilities and service, and a truly inspiring location, Glenmore Lodge is the perfect place to stay for a change of scene and an adventure in the Cairngorms.
Stunning natural setting
In the heart of the Cairngorms Natural Park, Glenmore Lodge is located in one of the most precious natural environments of the UK. We’re surrounded by ancient Caledonian pine woodlands, known and cherished for their rich biodiversity of native species.
Take a moment to sit amongst the trees, and it won’t be long before you’re losing count of the bird varieties you’ve spotted. Our local woods are also home to more elusive species including red squirrels, pine martens, capercaille, and even Scottish Wildcats! It’s important to follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code while exploring the outdoors, and heed any local advice or guidance in place to support minimising your impact on the delicate natural environment (such as avoiding areas with sensitive ground nesting bird populations at certain times of year).
Range of accommodation options
Whether you’re travelling solo, with a four-legged companion, your family, or a team of friends, we’ve got a range of options to suit your needs. Our in house rooms are all en-suite, with twin, double, or family rooms available. We’ve also got three cosy chalets set in our beautiful grounds, each with their own kitchen-dining-living rooms so you can enjoy cooking and relaxing in your own space.
If you’re booking a course with us then you can choose the option that’s best for you through the online checkout process. If you’re just looking to stay at Glenmore Lodge without joining a course, you can book directly on Airbnb or contact our friendly office team.

Delicious food
If you’ve visited the Lodge before or know someone else who has, then chances are you already know or have heard how fantastic our food is. Our chefs make sure you start your day with a hearty breakfast, and that there’s a delicious dinner waiting for you in the evening. The best way to guarantee a spot in the dining room for the evening is to book in advance, which has the added bonus of being cheaper than booking on the day as well!
You can either add dinner to your stay while selecting accommodation at the checkout stage for your course booking, or simply call our friendly team who’ll create the exact package you’re looking for.

Lochain Bar
Our onsite bar offers a cosy and welcoming place to relax in the evening. Enjoy a local craft beer, a dram of whisky, or just take in the beautiful mountain views from the balcony. On the chillier nights, we’ll have the fire going so it’s nice and warm. Socialise with other like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, or browse through our range of books filled with inspiration for your next adventure.

Drying Room
We can promise a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, good food, stunning views, and memorable experiences… but we can’t promise sunshine! Part of the charm of a Scottish adventure is never quite knowing what you’re going to get from the weather, and still having a great time regardless of rain or shine. That’s why if you do happen to get a bit damp or muddy on your days out, you’re welcome to use our secure drying room for any boots or kit. A practical luxury not to be taken for granted!
Friendly & relaxed atmosphere
We like things to be informal and relaxed, so everyone who visits Glenmore Lodge feels instantly at home. Our friendly staff are always here to help with anything you need, or to share their local knowledge with you.

Accessible by public transport
If you’re travelling north to visit us, our nearest town of Aviemore is well connected by the main train route to Inverness. In only two and a half hours, you can depart the bustling cities of Glasgow or Edinburgh, travel through scenic Perthshire and the dramatic Drumochter Pass, and arrive in the heart of the Cairngorms. Once in Aviemore, you can take the bus straight to Glenmore. It’s a short walk to Glenmore Lodge from the bus stop by the Glenmore Visitor Centre.
Local trails on the doorstep
There are peaceful and interesting trails for everyone to enjoy from the moment your step outside our doors. Explore the forest of Glenmore with a gentle wander up to the striking Lochain Uaine, before carrying on to Ryvoan Bothy. If you fancy going further, ascend Meall a’ Bhuachaille and enjoy stunning views of Cairngorm and Strathspey as you rise above the treeline. Looking to bag some Munros during your stay? Glenmore Lodge is the ideal start and end point for a day trip up Bynack More.
Or bring your bike and go further, whether you want gentle flowy trails or more challenging single track mountain biking. We offer secure bike storage options, so you can know your bike is safe when you aren’t out and about.

Short walk to Loch Morlich & local cafes
Fancy a beach day or some time on the water? We’re only a short walk away from Loch Morlich, which offers stunning mountain views and a beach surrounded by forest. Loch Morlich Watersports offers equipment hire for canoeing and paddleboarding, so you can head out onto the water for a fun adventure.
And if you’re looking for lunch, there are some lovely local spots including Glenmore Visitor Centre, the Pine Marten, and the Boathouse Café (above Loch Morlich Water Sports). Why not pop into our neighbours at the Cairngorms Reindeer Herd as well, and learn about this unique part of Glenmore’s history?
Located at the foot of Cairngorm
If the mountains are calling you, there isn’t a more convenient place to stay than Glenmore Lodge. We’re only a short drive from Cairngorm Mountain, the starting point for many adventures including longer and more challenging hikes to Ben MacDui or Beinn Meadhoin, or of course Cairngorm itself. It’s important to be certain you’ve got the right kit, skills, and experience for bigger days out, and up to date information about the weather and conditions. If you aren’t confident in your abilities or want to brush up your navigation skills, check out our Hill & Mountain Skills or Mountain Navigation courses.
