Scottish Tooling Series 2008
The first ever Scottish Tooling Series is going to be a great way to kick off the winter season and put Scotland on the map of competitive tooling competitions. After all, Scotland is the perfect host for such an event considering some of the best talent in the world attribute their success to climbing here.
Five venues have come together to organise 5 one-day competitions over 6 weeks.
Join experts and leading brands for workshops, lectures, demos and challenges. There is something for everyone and some great prizes up for grabs thanks to our sponsors.

There will be a series of 5 one day events being held over 6 weeks, at 5 different host venues as follows:
Avertical World - Dundee: Nov 8th
Edinburgh International Climbing Arena:Ratho, - Edinburgh: Nov 15th
Extreme Dream Climbing Wall - Aviemore: Nov 29th
Glenmore Lodge - Aviemore: Dec 6th
Ice Factor - Lochaber: Dec 13th
Each venue will offer a different style of competition. Granite walls with crampons, indoor walls with overhangs, ice and wood obstacles. It has all been designed to welcome the beginner and challenge the expert.
Each venue will host a one day Tooling Competition. There will be a winner for each category at each event. At the last event (Ice Factor), the Scottish Series will be won by the person in each category, who has entered a minimum of three competitions and accumulated the most points.

There will be 3 competition slots lasting 1.5 hours each with up to 10 problems and a maximum of 20 competitors per session.
You will be given a partner on the day that has booked into the same slot. As a pair, you will exchange belaying and climbing. You will have one and a half hours to complete as many of the climbs as you can. The points system will be explained on the day but basically there will be points for completion and extra points for completion on first attempt.
Competition Entry Cost £15 Adults / £10 Youth.

Dry Tooling Competition Outline -

9.00am for registration, kick-off 9.30am. Qualifiers in morning, finals and super finals in afternoon finishing at 5pm-ish. 10routes and problems as qualifiers on extremely varied and challenging terrain. The BIG roof for finals. The entire wall is given over for the competition and will be closed to the public except for spectators. There will be onsite catering and tunes on all day. Cutting edge climbing films will be on during the lunch break/interlude. Competitors should call us on 01479 812466 to register. Entry fee is £15.

Dry Tooling Competition Outline -
Prizes in the bar at 4:30pm after an inspirational lecture by Andy Turner 'The Secret of Tooling' one of the most current cutting edge tooling gurus.
Food, drink and films available all day. Spot prizes for the funniest, the strongest, weakest, slowest and fastest and the most entertaining.
TOOLING WORKSHOPS
We will be running 2 x 1.5 hour beginner workshops with Lodge instructors on our indoor tooling wall at 9am and 11am.There will be a master class with Andy Turner at noon. Limited spaces available. Cost £10 adults /£5 youth
