Welcome to the Glenmore Lodge Avalanche Awareness Quiz

SpotChecks in Avalanche Awareness” is a free computer based quiz aimed at everyone who goes into the hills in winter. It will confirm that you know your stuff, or let you know the areas in which you should do more thinking. It was created by Malcolm Seddon of CAST Education and Ian Sherrington of Glenmore Lodge, with the support of The Catherine Smith Memorial Trust.

How to use the Quiz

Please be aware the quiz may not work with some newer formats of Windows.  We are looking at updating the quiz during 2013 to resolve this.

To play the the quiz follow these simple instructions:

1) Click on one of the links below, choose either PC or MAC depending on your computer.

2) When the pop up box opens choose the option to save the file. Make sure this is an appropriate place on your computer where you can fine it, such as the desktop.

3) The download will begin, this will take approximately 5 minutes on a broadband connection.

4) Once the quiz has downloaded you will need to uncompress the files. To do this you will need to use Winzip or similar (PC) or Stuffit Expander (MAC) .

5) Once you have decompressed the files open the folder “SpotChecks on Avalanche Awareness”.

6) Click on the brown icon to run the quiz.
