The National Orienteering Centre is located at Glenmore Lodge
Orienteering is an amazing adventure sport requiring accurate navigation and fast running; it’s also a wonderful leisure activity that adds interest and challenge to a walk, and it’s a great way of learning and improving navigation skills. People of all ages enjoy orienteering in a variety of environments; around Glenmore we have wonderful forests where you can do everything – learn the basics or practise the most advanced skills.
The National Orienteering Centre, based at Glenmore Lodge, provides a range of exciting and enjoyable courses for people wishing to teach or coach orienteering at a variety of levels. All of the courses are highly practical and give participants lots of ideas and a useful set of resources for use in their own sessions.
Our “Teaching Orienteering” courses are extremely popular with teachers and youth leaders and require no prior knowledge. The UKCC courses lead to formal qualifications and require participants to show evidence of competence at orienteering. If you’re not sure which is the right course for you, please phone Hilary Quick on 01479 861374.
We also offer personal skills weekends, training courses for teachers, and coach education (UKCC Levels 1 and 2). Please see the SOA website for the full course schedule or phone Hilary Quick on 01479 861374 to discuss your requirements or click here for more details and to book.
