Glenmore Lodge Travel Plan

Glenmore Lodge encourages our visitors to walk, cycle and use public transport where possible, as part of a healthy lifestyle and sustainable good practice.

Glenmore Lodge is 0.75 of a mile from Glenmore Village, 8 miles from Aviemore, 2.5 hours North from Glasgow or Edinburgh and 0.5 hours South from Inverness.

Getting To The Area

Below are details of a number of different way to get to the area.  If you need any more information we would recommend the Transport Direct website.

By Train

The closest railway station is in Aviemore. This is on the mainline from Edinburgh/Glasgow to Inverness. For those travelling through London Scotrail offer a sleeper service to Aviemore. For further information visit National Rail enquiries.

By Bus

Aviemore is well serviced by National Express, Citylink & Megabus.

By Car

Aviemore is just off the A9, 90 miles north of Perth & 30 miles south of Inverness. From the south take the first exit signposted Aviemore, this is the second exit if coming from the north. On arriving in Aviemore turn right at the first roundabout, following signs for Cairngorm Mountain. After 7 miles you arrive at Glenmore village, take the main left turn by the signpost for Glenmore Lodge, passing the Reindeer Centre. We are 0.75 mile along this road.

By Air

The nearest airport is just outside Inverness, 45 miles from Glenmore Lodge . The airport website gives details of flights into Inverness. To reach us you will then have to get a bus or taxi into Inverness then either a bus or train to Aviemore.

Getting to us from Aviemore

Glenmore Lodge Transfers

For those booked on courses we offer a pick up from Aviemore Station to Glenmore Lodge on Friday & Sunday at 17.20pm. Please contact us on 01479 861 256 to book in advance. We also provide a drop off on Friday and Sunday leaving the Lodge at 17.00.

By Bicycle

Glenmore Lodge can be easily reached by an off road cycle track from Aviemore, around 8 miles. From the railway station turn left, past the Esso petrol station and then turn left down a path which takes you under the railway. Turn right after 150m cross the river by the Old Bridge and onto the cycle path which runs alongside the B970. 45-60 mins here, 25-35 mins return.

By Bus

Service number 34 leaves Aviemore from outside the Police Station and also from the Railway Station Interchange. Buses leave hourly from 09.15 hrs until 17.15 hrs and then again at 19.40 hrs. Please check www.travelinescotland.com for a current timetable. Journey takes around 15 minutes.  You will then need to walk 0.75 mile to reach us.  There is a purpose built path running alongside the road.

By Taxi

Taxis are available from outside the railway station and it will cost around £15 for the 10 - 15 minute journey.
