Practical and intensive course combining avalanche awareness and evaluation training with your existing navigational skills. Helps to better inform route choice and decision making in the winter hills. Scheduled so you can combine it with other short courses either side of the day.
Practical course developing knowledge and skills in order to improve avalanche awareness and the risk assessment process, including safe travel techniques and use of our avalanche transceiver training park simulating rescue of a buried victim. Suitable for skiers / boarders.

This award is aimed at those who wish to lead mountain ski touring parties in the British Hills.
This short course is aimed at those wishing to progress beyond the boundaries of the piste. Over 2 days you will experience both off piste skiing, and ski touring, exposing you to the skills and the thrills of these growing branches of skiing.
Aimed at those wishing to progress beyond the boundaries of the piste. We will alternate between off piste skiing and ski touring skills; building your level of confidence and competence in the main skills required for these increasingly popular sports.
This short but intense course will introduce you to the skills required for ski mountaineering, whilst fitting in quality touring. Terrain and topics covered will be considered as appropriate to the group and conditions.
Introduction to Ski Mountaineering Explore the full potential of Scottish ski mountaineering. A balance of touring and teaching days will ensure you not only get to learn new skills but also have the opportunity to practise and develop them.
A short but intense course that will develop your skills, whilst allowing you to experience some high quality ski touring. More demanding and varied terrain will be considered.
Once we have covered the same elements as the two day course we will have much more time to put them into practise, refining and improving them as we go. The additional days enable us to experience the best ski touring Scotland has to offer.
Focuses on the skills essential for travelling on glaciers. This will prove informative whether you are considering joining a guided trip or going it alone. It will be focused around roped skiing and crevasse rescue techniques.
Introduces options to help you better cope with steeper skiing terrain. It will look at the fundamentals of skiing technique, as well as teaching the tactics when approaching steeper ground. This course will also introduce some basic rope work skills.
Each day we will organise a number of different clinics, allowing you to select those relevant to you including Alpine skiing skills, avalanche awareness, planning & nav, steeper slopes & glacial travel. Off-piste skiers and telemark skiers are welcome.
