Our Rescue Team

Glenmore Lodge Mountain Rescue Team

Since its beginnings in 1947, Glenmore Lodge has been involved in Mountain Rescue. All Glenmore Lodge staff contribute in some way to forming a rescue response but at the heart of the team lies the experience of the ‘Lodge’ instructional staff.

The work of the instructors takes them to many wild and inhospitable places around Scotland, however there is one area they know better than any other – the Cairngorms. This combination of skills, experience and local knowledge creates a unique asset to Mountain Rescue within the Cairngorm area.

We work very closely with the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team and RAF 202 Squadron Search and Rescue. Indeed Glenmore Lodge is frequently used by both these teams as a base for communications and re-fuelling.

Glenmore Lodge as the National Outdoor Training Centre runs rescue training and advice for individuals and teams in all aspects of Mountain and Swiftwater Rescue.
