Community Support

Glenmore Lodge have operated in the Cairngorms for over 70 years.

We are passionate about our local environment but also about our local community.  We seek to play an active role in community projects, contribute to local affairs and support and promote the development of the Cairngorms National Park, The Highlands and Scotland in general.

Our Environmental Levy

Since 2008 we have collected £1 from every course fee and put this into our Environmental & Social Fund.  Each year we distribute the fund to worthy projects. To date over £15,000 has gone to a number of local projects, including path work repairs, wildlife conservation, school bike sheds and research into tick borne disease.  Below are just a few of the projects we have supported recently.

  • Kingussie Primary School outdoor classroom project
  • Carrbridge Primary School bike shed
  • Anagach Woods
  • Whale & Dolphin Trust
  • Bothy shelters for local primary schools

Local Facilities

We are keen to help support the increase and provision of local facilities.  Glenmore Lodge has the UK’s only biathlon facility that is open to the public and is home to the UK’s most successful civilian Biathlon Club, the Cairngorm Biathlon and Nordic Skiiing Club – http://www.cbnsc.co.uk/.  We have also developed a number of cycling facilities, we have a skills development circuit that is free for anyone to use and have created a trail riding facility.

Local Produce

Our commitment to supporting the local economy is just as strong, wherever possible we look to purchase and promote local products and local suppliers.  This doesn’t stop with just food, our bar is a strong supporter of the Aveimore based Cairngorm Brewery who have even named a beer ‘Spindrift’ especially for us.  Being based so close to the Speyside Whisky trail isn’t lost on us either; our favourite tipple is a wee dram of Balvenie Double Wood.
